Mothers Monaro on the front foot at Adelaide.

It's been an exciting start to the 2012 touring car masters series for the Mothers Polish team. "We came to Adelaide with the plan to run in the top 5 cars, despite our lack of time to do any testing, quipped Brett Youlden, owner and driver of the immaculate Mothers Polish Monaro.

This year we have a new engine (up 30 Hp) revised suspension settings & track and refreshed gearbox. We seemed to have upset the "established stars" as one by one they have been dragging us aside to inform us to slow down in "one way or another". So that's a good thing.....they're on notice !

Unfortunately at Clipsal Adelaide we struggled with having the wrong diff ratio fitted that hampered our speed and ultimately damaged our gearbox. We were forced to use 1st gear onto the straight and around turn 9.

Despite this we qualified 6th behind Jim Richards on the grid and were running 5th until a quick spin put us back to 10th place.

Race 2 saw a 6th place finish for us, whilst in race 3 on Sunday we were in some panel damage with Eddie Albernica (Falcon XB coupe) to finish 6th place.

Unfortunately it seems that we had our wheels just over the white mark at the start and we were given a time penalty that meant that we were officially 14th !!! Instead of 5 for the weekend we ended up 8 !! Such is life.

Our next round is at the end of May at Phillip Island. We will have a new gearbox, the right diff ratio and substansisl change in the valving of our shock absorbers. This coupled with less weight will make our HQ Monaro coupe a top 3 car.
